South Korea Japanese AnimeSouth Korea Japanese Anime
This map displays how Japan and South Korea’s anime influence each other over the years. Ever since the end of World War 2, Japan was banned from exporting films, music, anime, etc. to South Korea. As you can see on the map, Seoul’s New Year’s End Ban Celebration highlights a big relief to the country because now people can see their favorite films and TV shows and listen to music. The map also depicts that some anime was screened with and without government approval. Another significant factor on the map is the Golden age of Korea because anime became a very big thing in the country as it surpassed a lot of Japanese anime at that time. Anime was screened everywhere such as local theaters and at places where there are Children’s Day specials.
